Chit Fund Scam: Odisha Minister Sanjay Dasburma in Trouble

Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma has landed in further trouble, after his representative Gouranga Sahoo had to appear before the CBI with the documents of a vehicle, which was allegedly gifted to the Minister by chit fund accused Pradip Sethi.

The Minister’s name came into light after senior Congress leader and Dasburma’s bete noire Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra alleged that the BJD bigwig had received a Pajero vehicle from AT Group owner Pradip Sethi.

The CBI had asked the Minister to clear his stand and furnish all relevant details. In order to escape the interrogation, Sanjay Dasburma went to Koraput, citing official work and sent Gourang Sahoo as his representiave.

As Sanjay Dasburma became the first Minister in Naveen Patnaik’s cabinet to get a notice from CBI in the multi-crore chit fund scam. Earlier, BJD’s Lok Sabha MP from Mayurbhanj Ramchandra Hansda and Banki MLA Pravat Tripathy were arrested in this case. Hansda is still cooling his heels in the hail, while Tripathy is out on bail.
