Civil Aviation Ministry to declare Bada Danda as ‘no flying zone’: DGP RP Sharma

ONI Bureau:  Elaborating about the security arrangements made by Odisha Police for the annual Ratha Jatra on July 14, Odisha DGP Dr RP Sharma said that around 140 platoons of armed police will be deployed during the chariot festival at Jagannath Dham, Puri.

As many as 1000 officers and 2000 home guards will be mobilised. Two units of STF and RPF and one unit of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) will also be roped in service.

Civil Aviation Ministry to declare Bada Danda as ‘no flying zone’. A letter will be written to Civil Aviation Ministry in this regard, said DGP RP Sharma after security review meeting today.

The town will also remain under CCTV surveillance.  Over 120 CCTV cameras will be installed at strategic locations during the festival.
