CM launches Odia Virtual Academy Portal to promote Odia Language, Literature

ONI Bureau:  With an aim to promote, preserve and digitisation of the Odia language and literature, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday launched a new web portal of Odia Virtual Academy (www.ova.gov.in).

The website will be helpful for the promotion of Odia language and literature at the international level.

Worth mentioning, as many as 170 books of Odia literature have been placed on the academy website with an aim to reach to Odia language lovers.

The objective of the website is to digitise approximately 2,000 rare and copyright-free Odia books, Odia dictionaries, establishing a free digital library, literature on science and history, folk culture, tribal language and literature, history-oriented essays, folk culture, speech of great personalities, Shree Jagannath culture, temple and architectures.

Besides, three MoUs have been signed with the University of Chicago Library, C-DAC and Centre for Internet and Society, Bengaluru for the development of Odia software and advance digitization of Odia literature.
