CM Naveen Patnaik Launches Development Projects Worth Rs 2000cr in Kalahandi

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, on Thursday, inaugurated projects worth Rs 2,045cr in Kalahandi district.

During his one-day visit, the Chief Minister inaugurated 57 projects. The projects include mega irrigation systems, food parks, new power feed lines, bus stands roads and bridges.

Praising the development of Kalahandi in agriculture, he said that Kalahandi has become rice bowl now. While Kalahandi is the second largest rice producer Odisha, it also supplies rice to the country’. He also said that Rs 1,200 crore has been disbursed directly to the bank accounts of the farmers of Kalahandi.

Talking about the infant mortality rate, Naveen Patnaik said that in two decades back, the infant mortality rate in Kalahandi was 7,000 per thousand, while the maternal mortality rate was 832.

“Today, the rate has dropped due to the special program of the state government. We have been able to save the lives of a large number of children and mothers,” he said.

The Chief Minister also announced setting up of a museum and a park which would reflect the story of transformation of the Kalahandi district.
