CM orders Crime branch Probe into Trahi Achyuta Ashram Row

Sura-Baba-Trahi-AchyutaOdisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered a probe into the Trahi Achyuta row and controversies surrounding its chief, Sura Baba alias Surendra Nath Mishra. The Crime Branch will probe all allegations levelled against the Ashram, Sura Baba and his sons.

Sura Baba and his two sons were arrested yesterday under various sections of the IPC, SC/ST Act and Arms Act. The cops had sought their remand to take the investigation further. In total, three cases have been registered against Sura Baba.

The situation in and around Trahi Achyuta Ashram at Jhinti on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, is completely under control after the unprecedented violence on Sunday and Monday. Over 20 vehicles were torched or damaged along with some houses and chariots on Sunday.

The mob attacked the cops yesterday, injuring many policemen, including DCP, ACP and Inspectors. 12 people have been taken into custody so far. Peace committees have been formed in the area to restore peace and normalcy. Temporary police camps have also been set up.

Earlier, the CM had ordered Crime Branch probe into the Sarathi Baba controversy and illegal activities at his Ashram in Barimula, Kendrapara. That probe is still going on.
