The State Secretariat of Odisha has been in the news for wrong reasons these days. Days after a youth entered the Secretariat with a knife and threatened an employee, a theft from a Minister’s chamber on Monday has raised serious questions over the security arrangements at and around the premises of State Secretariat.
An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system of a computer was stolen from the chamber of Excise and Cooperation Minister Damodar Rout. Moreover, the locks of Rout’s chamber were broken open.
While his personal assistant had informed the Secretariat administration about the incident, the Minister took it very lightly. “Everyday sweepers and caretakers are coming to my office to sweep and clean; if somebody has the stolen the UPS, what is the point in discussing it?” The Minister viewed.
