Congress, BJP call Malkangiri Bandh to protest CM’s Visit

Congress and BJP called for Malkangiri Bandh on Saturday ahead of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to the district today.

The protest is over the State Government’s alleged careless attitude towards tribal people and Japanese Encephalitis which claimed lives of over 130 children within two months in the district.

Despite the bandh, the Chief Minister will visit Malkangiri district today and lay foundation stone of various welfare projects including school hostels, roads, bridge over Malkangirie-Moto-MPV 53 road, multi-purpose cyclone centre.

Police have detained many Congress and BJP activists and took into preventive custody.
