Congress Party captures Jharsuguda Zilla Parishad

In a big relief to the depleted Congress in Odisha, which saw reverses across the state, the party has managed to capture Jharsuguda Zilla Parishad by winning 5 out of 9 seats that went to polls in both phases.

Congress has won 2 out of 6 seats in the first phase. However, in the second phase, they added all three seats to their kitty, taking the tally to 9.

This is seen as a major victory for Jharsuguda MLA Naba Das, who managed to hold his fort despite the unprecednted rise of BJP and all-round efforts from BJD.
