Congress ST & SC Cell to start Adibasi Dalit Satyagraha in BBSR on Dec 21
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) ST & SC Cell will start Adibasi Dalit Satyagraha (fast unto death) at 11 AM on Dec 21 at Raj Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, citing apathy towards Tribals and Dalits in Odisha.
This was announced by OPCC ST Cell President Adibasi Pradeep Majhi.
Their demands are as follows:
- Officially 121 kids died of JE in Malkangiri due to government inaction but not a penny was given as compensation to the family of the victims. We demand they be given at least Rs 12,00000 per family.
- 55 positions for doctors are still vacant in the district even after these deaths and Naveen Sarkar has not taken any steps to fill the positions. We demand all the doctors and ANM positions in Malkangiri be filled immediately.
- Five innocent adibasis were massacred by states security forces in Gumudumah Kandhamal not a single person was held responsible in the case and the commission of enquiry has not progressed an inch since inception. We demand the culprits in the mass murder be identified immediately and punished according to law to the victim families get to a closure.
- Over and over we are seeing grave situations of governance failure in delivering basic duties towards vulnerable Dalits and Adibasis starting from malnutrition in Nagada to Sipijodi. We want accountability be fixed in such failures and the victims be compensated as they lost lives for failure in governance.
