Conjoined Twin Kalia Passes Away

One of the conjoined twins Kalia, who had been surgically separated from his brother Jaga, succumbed at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Wednesday.

The conjoined twins from Kandhamal district had been separated in a procedure held at AIIMS, Delhi in 2017. This was the first of its kind medical procedure in India.

After their discharge from AIIMS, they were admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital since September last year.

Kalia was reported to develop complications and was put on ventilator support on September 28. He was taken out of the ventilator after his condition improved .

On Wednesday, Kali’s condition deteriorated further and he succumbed to cardiac arrest.
