Coronavirus cases spike as Surat and Tamil Nadu returnees are detected with infection

Odisha saw a rise in the number of positive coronavirus cases as many as 29 people tested positive in the last 24 hours, taking the total number to 271. Twenty-five of these new cases are recent returnees from Surat.

19 out of the 29 people who have tested positive for Covid-19 are from Ganjam district, 5 of them are from Kendrapara district, and the rest of them are from Bhadrak district, stated the state health and family welfare department. On Thursday, Odisha had recorded 34 new positive cases including three from capital Bhubaneswar.

Of the 271 total cases in the state, 206 are active while 63 patients have recovered. In Odisha, two patients have died due to Covid-19.
