The popular Balijatra will not be held at Cuttack this year. COVID has played dampener on the annual historic maritime festival this year.
Cuttack Collector Bhabani Shankar Chaini stated that the decision has been taken due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

“Due to Covid-19 situation, we are not allowing any kind of congregation. Balijatra attracts a large number of people, so the festival will not be held this year,” the Collector said.
The biggest fair in the State, Balijatra is a reminder of Odisha’s glorious maritime history. Balijatra is held on the banks of river Mahanadi in Cuttack and showcases the rich history of Odisha.
