Crime Branch forms 3-member SIT to probe ‘Fake Brahma’ on Facebook

The Crime Branch of Odisha has taken a serious note of circulation of fake pictures of ‘Brahma’ of Lord Jagannath and formed a three-member SIT to probe the source and culprits behind this malicious campaign.

The Crime Branch took up the matter on the request of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), which sought a probe into the matter. It is already confirmed that the fake Brahma picture was taken from a YouTube video posted four years ago about Matsya Shalagram. But, who started the campaign and who else are involved, would be subjected to scrutiny.

The team comprises of two Inspectors and one Sub-Inspector (SI). The issue is listed under Cyber Crime. Apart from the fake picture of the Brahma, some other pictures showing carving of idols and patali act (burial) were also circulated on Facebook and WhatsApp.
