Cyclone Titli Updates: High alert issued for 14 Dists of Odisha

ONI Bureau:  Red alert issued in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday warns of Cyclone Titli.

The deep depression is very likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during next 24 hours & move west-northwestwards & then northwestwards and trigger heavy rainfall and stormy winds.

It would cross Odisha & adjoining north Andhra Pradesh coasts between Gopalpur & Kalingapatnam around 11th October morning.

Odisha Govt asked district collectors to remain on high alert with Cyclone Titli expected to hit the eastern state from October 10.

Red warning has been issued for Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara district on October 10.

While 14 districts of Odisha – Kalahandi, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur & Kendrapara put on high alert from October 11 (8.30 AM) to October 12 (8.30 AM) reportedly.

As many as 6 NDRF teams from Mundali unit Cuttack have been sent to Puri, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Gajapati, Bhadrak and Nayagarh districts to deal with possible flood situation.

Holidays of fire services personnel, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) and Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) were cancelled; 20 teams reserved to be mobilised in north Odisha if needed, said Chief Fire Officer Sukant Sethi. Around 300 motor boats have also been put on standby to tackle any flood situation.

Eight Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) units will be pressed into service in Commissionerate Area. 6 units will be engaged for rescue & 2 units for road clearance, Police Commissioner, Satyajit Mohanty informed today.
