Death of A Woman For Dowry

In a tragic incident at Jalapada village in Jagatsinghpur district, a woman was killed by her in-laws for dowry.
The victim has been identified as Jyotshna from Khalinga village under Patapur police limits in Ganjam district and had married to Netrananda Rout of Jalapada village.

Jyotshna was beaten up brutally by her in-laws on March 19 which landed her up in SCB Medical College and Hospital critically injured. However, On March 23, while undergoing treatment, she succumbed to her injuries.

Without informing the police, her in-laws took her body for cremation but Jyotshna’s brother, informed Kujanga police about the matter, following which police rushed to the spot and seized the body for postmortem.

According to sources, she was being tortured ever since she got married eight years ago.

Police have probed investigation and detained Netrananda for interrogation.
