Death toll at Sishu Bhawan rises to 33; Three more Infants die

Cuttack, Aug 27: The death toll of infant babies touched to 33 with the death of three more infants at the Sishu Bhawan (Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Pediatrics) here on Wednesday. As many as 33 infants died at the pediatric centre in last seven days.

According to reports, the three died infants belong to Salepur, Chandikhole and Badamba and the parents alleged medical negligence as the reason behind the death of their new born babies.

On Aug 26, Odisha Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak visited Sishu Bhawan and granted Rs.10 crore fund for the development of the institution.  Odisha government had formed a panel over the death of infants at Sishu Bhawan.
