Death Toll rises to 25 in Sum Hospital Fire Tragedy

The death toll in the Sum Hospital fire mishap has reached to 25 on Friday as three more persons succumbed to their injuries at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, one died at AMRI hospital and one died at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

On Monday, at least 19 persons died and over 100 others sustained injured after a major fire broke out at Institute of Medical Sciences & Sum Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

The patients were shifted to various government and private hospitals in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

Meanwhile, Commissionerate Police have already arrested four persons. SUM Hospital founder Manoj Nayak has been sent to 2-day police remand for the deadly fire incident.

Notably, out of more than 568 private hospitals and nursing homes in Odisha,  only three hospitals meet fire safety standards.
