Defying Sec 144 retrenched workers stage dharna in Paradip

ONI Bureau:  Retrenched contract labourers of Cargill India refinery plant in Paradip on Wednesday staged protest outside the company to press their demand of reinstatement in their jobs.

Though the Jagatsinghpur district administration had imposed Section 144 in the area, over 150 retrenched workers staged dharna despite the prohibitory orders.

Reportedly, the Cargill refinery plant which is now owned by Adani Wilmar Limited began its operation in the region but the retrenched workers were not reinstated. As the retrenched workers had no other job opportunities, they staged protest.
