Even as the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government in Odisha boasts of development in every sector, the ground reality is completely different. As many as 44,926 Diploma and Degree Engineers in Odisha, still remain jobless, as per the admission of Employment and Technical Education and Training Minister Sanjay Dasburma.
Reply to a question by BJD MLA from Nabarangpur, Manohar Randhari in Odisha Assembly yesterday, Sanjay Dasburma admitted that 31,656 Diploma Engineers, 12,736 Degree Engineers and 534 Postgraduate Degree Engineers who registered themselves with the Employment Exchanges in the state, are still awaiting jobs.
He tried to put up a volt face, saying the Odisha Government has formed a Placement Cell for the employment of youths. The government also claimed that it has constituted a Central Placement Cell for the ITI and Diploma Candidates. But, it remains to be seen whether such schemes and policies bring cheer to the Graduates and Engineers in the state or will become a eyewash in the end.
