Insight Bureau: Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday inaugurated the Petrochemical Investors Conclave 2017 at Mayfair Convention Centre in Bhubaneswar.
Odisha Finance Minister Shashi Bhushan Behera and MSME Minister Prafulla Samal were also present at the occasion.
The theme of the Conclave is “Purvodaya – The Dawn of New Investment Opportunities in Eastern India.”
The Conclave aims to highlight the emerging investment opportunities in the petrochemicals sector in Eastern India and help catalyse investments in the downstream Plastic Parks and Textile Parks proposed to be developed in Eastern India.
Speaking at the occasion Pradhan said Paradip can develop into a petrochemicals hub, leading the industrial growth in Odisha and adjoining areas in the Eastern Region. “This conclave aims to bring investors, academia, Govt (both State & Centre) at a common platform to felicitate investments in Petrochemical Sector in High-Potential Eastern India including Odisha”, he said.
A new polypropylene unit of 700 KTA (kilo tonnes per annum) capacity is also getting ready at Paradip Refinery to support the polymers/plastics industry.
With IndianOil as the Anchor Tenant, a Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR) is being developed at Paradip to provide a conducive business environment for investments in petroleum, chemicals, petrochemicals and allied sectors.
