Dharmendra writes to Naveen, seeks benefits for Health Workers

ONI Bureau: Union P&NG and SD&E Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written a letter to Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik seeking better pay package, regularisation of pay structure and other benefits for multi-purpose Health Workers in the state.

Pradhan seeks to draw attention of the CM that the Health & Family Welfare department of the state had hired the Health Workers as regular employees in various districts. But, the NRHM is paying them just Rs 5,200 per month even though they play a key role in the healthcare in the state.

“As these Health Workers are engaged in all type of healthcare services from district to PHC and Sub-Centre, they must get salary from the treasury of the Odisha Govt through allotment instead of NRHM aid,” Pradhan urged the CM.

“As they were hired to fill up the vacant regular job, they must get salary under the 7th Pay Commission along with a 10% hike per annum in the basic pay. And, jobs of these Health Workers should be regularised within 6 years,” he further wrote.
