Dharmendra writes to Naveen over land allotment for big Petro Projects in Odisha

ONI Bureau:  Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday wrote a letter to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik requesting him to provide land for four big projects by Petroleum Ministry in the State.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Union Petroleum Minister urged to allot required land for the projects including doubling of Pertoleum Traffic at Paradip Port (refinery expansion from 15 to 25 MMTPA), Petcoke gasification project, PX/PTA plant at Paradip Refinery and Textile Park Project.

In this regard Indian Oil is in process of finalizing almost Rs. 40,000 Cr investment in new projects in Odisha and regularly following up with the Odisha Govt for allotment of land for implementing these new projects entailing significant investments as per the following details:

• Additional 2,290 acres of land at Paradip for petrochemicals/speciality units and refinery expansion from 15 to 25 MMTPA
• Additional 800 acres of land at Paradip for Petcoke gasification project
• Additional 16 acres of land at Paradip for PX/PTA plant project
• Additional 40 acres of land at Bhadrak for Textile Park project

Taiwan’s state-owned Petroleum firm CPC Corporation is also planning to invest another Rs 43,000 Cr for setting up of green-field petrochemical project in Paradip.

He further stated that though the Odisha Govt has carried out road shows in several Countries about the upcoming Petrochemical projects in Odisha, Indian Oil, which has offered to invest in various petrochemical projects, is not getting timely response and cooperation.

Dharmendra Pradhan also said that Odisha would become the Petroleum Hub of India if all these projects become operational.
