Dr. Damodar Rout relieved as BJD Vice President

ONI Bureau: Beleaguered BJD veteran Dr. Damodar Rout received another jolt today, as he was relieved as the Vice President of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) with immediate effect.

Dr. Rout, who was sacked as a Minister yesterday for his casteist remarks as well as series of statements that put the party in the dock, had shown defiance even after being thrown of the Cabinet.

BJD issued a press release, saying “The President Biju Janata Dal, Shri Naveen Patnaik has been pleased to relieve Dr. Damodar Rout from the post of Vice-President, Biju Janata Dal as well as from the post of Observer of Dhenkanal District with immediate effect”.

It now seems imminent that Dama Rout’s political career is coming to and end.
