Dutee, Srabani qualify in 4X100 metre relay for Rio Olympics

Dutee-and-SrabaniTwo women sprinters of Odisha Dutee Chand and Srabani Nanda, brought pride for the state and the country after the Indian 4x100m women’s relay team led by them got qualified for the Rio Olympics creating a new national record clocking 43.42 seconds at Kazakhstan National Athletics Championships at Almaty on Monday.

The team comprising of Dutee, Srabani, HM Jyothi and Merylin Joseph has broken their own national record of 44.03 seconds which they had done in IAAF World Challenge in Beijing in the month of May this year.

The women’s team had won silver medal and men’s relay team had won the gold medal in 4×100 relay simultaneously.

The relay teams will now compete at the 3rd and 4th Indian Grand Prix in Bangalore at Sree Kanteerva Stadium on July 10 and July 11 respectively.
