DWO Suicide: Rayagada Collector and PA, ITDA Transferred

Under fire over the sensational suicide case of Rayagada District Welfare Officer (DWO), Dhaneswar Prusty, the Odisha Government has transferred District Collector Sashi Bhusan Padhy and the Project Administrator (PA), Integrated Tribal Development Authority (ITDA) Gorachand Gamang with immediate effect.

The decision came a day after the Congress Party led by former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Majhi held massive demonstration in Rayagada and also burnt the effigy of the Collector. The BJP too protested separately during the bandh call in Rayagada supported by all opposition parties and common people.

Meanwhile, Jagannath Mohanty, Additional Secretary at School & Mass Education, has been appointed as the new District Collector of Rayagada. Incumbent Sashi Bhusan Padhy has been shifted as the Special Secretary, Health. Project Administrator (PA), Integrated Tribal Development Authority (ITDA) Gorachand Gamang has been transferred as APD, DRDA (District Rural Development Agencies).

The Crime Branch of the Odisha Police has already begun the probe into the suicide of DWO Dhaneswar Prusty, who had held the Collector and PA, ITDA responsible for his death, in the suicide note.
