Elephants from Jharkhand create panic in Keonjhar dist

ONI Bureau:  A herd of 160 wild elephants strayed into Keonjhar forest division from neighbouring Jharkhand, created panic among the locals and villagers living under the district forest division.

The jumbos have already damaged houses, destroyed acres of crops and continue to enter local settlements.

Keonjhar Divisional Forest Officer has formed 16 squads to drive away the elephants and warned the villagers not to venture into elephant-infested forest areas.

While over 60 elephants were spotted inside Champua Forest Range, some elephants were seen in Dubuna, Malda, Tuntuna and Mirigisinga areas under the forest division.
