Farmer dies at a Camp near Bhubaneswar-Puri Bypass road

farmer diedBhubaneswar, Feb 18:  A farmer from Salepur area of Cuttack district died at a camp nearby Bhubaneswar-Puri bypass road on Wednesday night. The deceased person has been identified as Birakishore Biswal a resident of Barbari village in Cuttack district.

As per reports, the deceased was scheduled to join a demonstration in the capital city organized by the Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) today with other farmers.

According to reports, Biswal and many other farmers under the banner of the organization – NKS had marched a rally from Cuttack to Bhubaneswar on Wednesday night. They stayed at a camp organized for the farmers for night halt at Hanspal area, where Biswal breathed his last on Wednesday night.

Police rushed the camp, sent the body for postmortem and registered as case. The reason of the death would be ascertained only after the autopsy is conducted, police officials claimed.

Notably, many farmers from the district marched to capital city to join a protest called by the organization today at Lower PMG Square. The NKS called farmers to protest over various demands including implementation of pension scheme for farmers, compensation for farmers committed suicide, increasing minimum support price, drought compensation etc.,
