Farmers gherao Jeypore DDA Office demanding Drought Package

Farmer encirclement DDA office demanding drought package  (2)Koaraput, Nov 3: Hundreds of farmers gheraoed the office of the Deputy Director’s of Agriculture (DDA) office in  Jeypore demanding drought package on Monday. A team of farmers from Ranigarh and KBD Gram Panchayat came to DDA office led by ex MLA Rabi Narayan Nanda and encircle the employees to fulfill their demand. Their demand was to declare their land as drought affected so as to get the drought effected compensation.

Farmers shown their lost crop samples to the DDA and demanded for immediate compensation. DDA officer Kalidash Biswas discussed with the delegation team of farmers and assured of compensation to be paid basing on the report.

The loss and drought situation will be surveyed and the report shall be prepared by a joint team of agriculture, horticulture and revenue departments. Then as per government policy 6860 rupees compensation will be paid per hectare, said the DDA officer.
