Bhubaneswar, Nov 17: Two debt ridden farmers have committed suicide in two different in districts of Odisha on Tuesday morning. Drought situation, crop loss and loan burden claimed two more lives in the state.
As per reports, the duo farmers identified as Labanya Santa of Purunapani village under Nandahandi block in Nabarangpur district and Susil Patra of Khagatipali village under Dhanakauda block in Sambalpur district.
Family members of Santa said that he took extreme step following crop loss and debt burden. He consumer pesticide.
In another incident, Susil Patra had taken loan from banks and usurers for agriculture purpose. He suffered huge loss due to crop failure. He was admitted to a hospital in Burla and breathed his last on Tuesday while undergoing treatment.
