First Phase Panchayat Polls begins in Odisha

Voting for first phase of the Odisha Panchayat Polls began on Monday at 7 am in 85 blocks across 29 districts in the State. It will continue till 12 noon.

In the first phase of election, around 58,28,446 voters will cast their vote to elect 188 Zilla Parishad members, 1,506 Sarpanchs & 20,369 ward members in 29 districts.

Counting of voting will begin at 1 pm and results will be declared by 3 pm. However, Zilla Parishad results would not be declared today.

Heavy security arrangements have been made at all booths including the Maoist prone districts, CCTV cameras installed at sensitive booths.
