AT least five Maoists were killed in an encounter with Odisha Police in Kandhamal-Kalahandi border on Wednesday. Four among the killed are said to be women cadres. One jawan was also injured.
Two composite teams of SOG and DVF had participated in the exchange. One team of SOG, DVF when subjected to heavy firing from the Maoists resorted to retaliatory fire, which lasted for half an hour.
About two SLR and three country made Rifles are recovered from the spot, along with other ammunition and personnel belongings of Maoists.
More teams of SOG, DVF and CRPF have been sent to the area for combing
and search operation.
