Former Odisha DGP Sanjeev Marik loses Godda Bypoll in Jharkhand

Former Odisha DGP Sanjeev Marik, who recently joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and contested the Godda assembly bypoll in Jharkhand on the party ticket, had to bite the dust by finishing distant third.

Amit Kumar Mandal of the BJP polled 83,987 votes to win the seat, while RJD candidate Sanjay Prasad Yadav, who was also backed by Congress and JD(U) finished runners-up with 49,436 votes.

Sanjeev Marik managed to get just 18,337 votes.
