Gold worth over Rs 11 lakh seized at Bhubaneswar Airport

The officials of the Air Intelligence Unit of Customs seized gold worth over 11 lakh rupees from an Indian passenger at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The Custom officials recovered as many as five gold bars and some brown colour paste from the accused, who had concealed all inside his rectum.

“ The paste was mixed with gold in powder form”, a Custom official said. “Treatment of the brown paste in laboratory resulted into gold”, he added.

The market value of the seized gold weighing 355.12 grams have been estimated about Rs 11,37,094, Customs officials claimed.

The accused passenger, who hails from Kozhikode in Kerla , was detained after custom officials found his activities suspicious. He arrived in the temple city by an Air India flight A1-399  from Bangkok.
