HC allows Ramachandra Hansda to attend Parliament for 1 Day

Ramachandra-HansdaThe Orissa High Court on Thursday allowed Mayurbhanj MP Ramachandra Hansda, who is currently lodged in Jharpada jail, Bhubaneswar, to attend one working day of the Parliament under the custody of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

While hearing an interim bail plea filed by Hansda, the court also asked the central probe agency to produce the MP before the designated court of CBI in Bhubaneswar by March 23.

Hansda, the suspended BJD leader, had appealed before the High Court that he would be granted permission to attend the Lok Sabha to retain his membership as an MP stands to lose his membership of the House if he or she remains absent for a period of 60 days at a stretch without permission.

Notably, the District and Sessions Court, Khurda, and Special CJM CBI court had earlier rejected the plea of Hansda who was arrested by CBI on November 4, 2014, for his alleged role in Nabadiganta chit-fund scam.
