HC orders a Stay on 232 Data Entry Operators Recruitment

Orissa High-CourtThe Orissa High Court on Tuesday ordered an interim stay on a notification for the recruitment of 232 posts of data entry operator at the Secretariat under Home department, Government of Odisha.

The high court also ruled that the stay order would continue since the state government is yet to respond the original case in connection to the post of data entry operators at the Secretariat.

A vacation Bench of Justice Sanju Panda and DP Choudhury looked into a petition challenging the notification for the said posts by Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC). The Court also directed the Odisha Administrative Tribunal (OAT) to adjudicate the case as early as possible.

It is to be mentioned that as many as 200 contractual employees at the secretariat had moved the OAT last year alleging their services were not regularised even after completion of around 12 years of service. OAT had issued a show-cause notice to the state government in 2014 in this regard.

The petitioners claim that, there is a provision for regularising the employees who had completed six years of regular services. However, OSSC brought a fresh notification on May 20, 2015 for the recruitment of 232 data entry operators at the Secretariat.
