Heatwave continues in Odisha, Bhubaneswar records 45.7 degrees C

HeatwaveIntense heatwave conditions persist in Odisha with the mercury level rising to 45.7 degrees Celsius – highest in the state this season. Earlier, Bhubaneswar had recorded 44.1 degrees C yesterday. It’s an all-time record for the city, which had recorded 45 degrees on 23rd April 1985.

The temperature of 45.7 degrees C was recorded at 2 PM. The temperature may rise further as the day progresses. At least 16 sunstroke deaths have been reported so far. Official toll could be much higher, it’s believed.

Situation will remain so for another few days. As April month has witnessed such unprecedented heatwave conditions, people are worried about the scorching May. Efforts are being taken to make people aware of the situation and advise them to stay indoors. More emphasis should be given on women, elderly and kids.
