Helicopters to be pressed into service for Rescue & Relief work in Ganjam

ONI Bureau:  Helicopters will be used for Rescue & Relief work at worst affected Aska and Purusottampur in Ganjam district.

Chief Secretary Aditya Padhi said that the choppers from Vishakhapatnam will be used for rescue and relief operation and Odisha Government has already requested Centre to provide two helicopters for operation.

Earlier, Ganjam Collector requested Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for helicopter assistance for rescue and relief operations in affected areas of the district.

Meantime, Gajapati Collector has sought to provide more fire-fighting teams for the district.

As per report, Aska cut-off from other parts of the district. Telecommunication network has also been hit in different parts of the districts.

Chief Minister today directed the district collectors to provide cooked food to flood affected people for next seven days.

Situation remains grim in 4 districts in Odisha – Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Balasore.

Reportedly, former parliamentarian Baijayant Panda appealed Odisha CM to unseal the IMFA Hangar & release all 3 Helicopters for rescue and relief operations in flood affected districts.
