Hi-Tech College row: Odisha Govt seeks recommendation from Law Dept

Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital, RourkelaBhubaneswar, Oct 20: Odisha government has sought recommendations of the Law Department over the Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital, Rourkela admission row. Recently, Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) has submitted its report over the medial college’s alleged violation of norms in the admission in MBBS and BDS.

The OJEE has submitted as per the orders issued by the state government on October 11 over the institution’s admission process. In the report, OJEE mentioned about violation of norms of admission by the institution. In  this regard the state government is considering to move to Supreme Court, however, it asked the Law Department to submit its recommendations.

According to reports, due to lack of adequate infrastructure as per the prescribed guidelines, the Medical Council of India had rejected admission into MBBS and BDS courses in the medical college this year.

Hi-Tech Hospital authorities had challenged the council’s order at Orissa High Court. The court in its order asked the council to allow the medical college to hold admission of students into MBBS and BDS courses as per the OJEE counseling process and by informing students that the final outcome of the admission would be subject to the further orders from court.

It is reported that, the authorities of the medical college allegedly violated the order of court by not consulting with OJEE over the admission process into the courses. They also alleged of conducting a separate entrance test for the admission.
