Hirakud Dam opens 9 Sluice Gates to release Flood water

Due to incessant rains in the upper reaches of Mahanadi, the Hirakud Dam authorities on Saturday opened more two gates to release flood water.

As many as 9 Sluice Gates of Hirakud dam reservoir in Sambalpur were opened since last three days.

Notably on August 5, the dam had released season’s first flood water by 10 sluice gates and from September 8 the dam has started to release season’s second rain water.
