ONI Bureau:  The practice of treating infants with hot iron is rampant in remote and tribal districts of Odisha. As an utter display of superstition-based inhuman behaviour, a three-year-old baby boy died at Binda village in Pandapada police limit in Keonjhar district after being branded with hot iron.

Reportedly, the baby named Santosh Nayak was branded by his own mother to cure of digestive ailment. But after his condition deteriorated, parents rushed him to the Keonjhar district headquarters hospital where doctors declared him dead.
