I hold Odisha in high esteem; I love Odisha: Abhijit Iyer-Mitra

ONI Bureau:  Journalist Abhijit Iyer Mitra, who was arrested for making derogatory remarks on Konark Sun Temple, apologised for his remarks today.

Mitra also apologised for his remarks against Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, CMO and the State Assembly.

Abhijit Iyer said that he was under immense stress for saying some of the nastier things.

The journalist said that he has a lot of his research writing where he always praised the state.  He always held Odisha in high regard. Iyer said that he loves Odisha that’s why he visited the state to look at its history and contribution to Indian culture.

Meanwhile, the journalist said that he will appear before House committee of Odisha Assembly on October 23 in connection with his derogatory remarks.

He also clarified that he had not gone to Konark with Baijayant Panda. He does not know Jay Panda and only met him only twice in his life time.

Abhijit is the son of Tamil Nadu’s first woman Collector VS Chandralekha, a close associate of Subramanian Swamy. Chandralekha is known for crusade against corruption and even survived acid attack. She was the one, who introduced Sasikala to Jayalalithaa.
