India successfully test-fires Agni-I Ballistic Missile from Odisha Coast

agni-i-ballistic-missileIndia on Tuesday successfully test-fired the indigenously built nuclear-capable Agni-I Missile at Abdul Kalam Island (formerly Wheeler Island) near Dharmra in Bhadrak district of the Odisha coast.

The Agni-I missile, capable of hitting targets up to 700 km away was fired from Launch Pad-4 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) today at 10.9 am.

The missile weighs around 1200-kg and can carry arms and nuclear arms ranging between 750 kg to 1,250 kg. It was first launched on January 25, 2002 from a road mobile launcher at ITR, Wheeler Island.
