India successfully test-fires Prithvi-II Missile from Chandipur

India today test-fired its indigenously developed Prithvi-II missile by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from the Interim Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur on Wednesday. The test was conducted at about 9.40 AM today.

Inducted into India’s armed forces in 2003, Prithvi-II was the first missile developed under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP).

The missile has the capacity of destroying any incoming hostile ballistic missile.
