Red Cross organizes State Level Training ProgrammeA State Level Counsellors’ Training Programme for Untrained Youth Red Cross Counsellors is being organised by Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch (IRCS-OSB) from 25th to 27th March, 2015 at Red Cross Bhavan, Unit-9, Bhubaneswar. In this Training Camp 31 (Thirty One) Youth Red Cross Counsellors from different colleges of Odisha have participated.

The training Programme is organised to inspire the Youth Red Cross Counsellors & acquaint them with the values & Principles of Red Cross, so that they can guide the Youth Volunteers in the right direction on the right path by inculcating in them a true sense of social responsibility and commitment to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable groups.

During these three days training camp the Counsellors will be trained on History, Development and Fundamental Principles of Red Cross Movement, Youth Red Cross objectives and activities, Disaster Preparedness and Disaster Risk Reduction, First Aid, Road safety & Traffic Control, Blood Science, Motivation for organizing Blood Grouping and Blood Donation, HIV/AIDS and RRC, Volunteerism & Leadership, Global Warming & Climate Change along with Fire Fighting & Rescue Operation etc.

The Training Camp was inaugurated by Sri Sudhansu Bhusan Mishra, IAS (Retd.) Former Chief Secretary, Govt. of Odisha and Member, State Working Committee, Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch as Chief Guest along with Dr. Chakradhar Panda, Honorary Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch and Dr. Debadatta Satpathy, Youth Red Cross Officer, IRCS-OSB. Sri Govinda Chandra Mahunta, Hon. Joint Secretary was also attended the inaugural function.

Sri Sudhansu Bhusan Mishra, IAS (Retd.) Former Chief Secretary, Govt. of Odisha and Member, State Working Committee, Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch in his address he said that the counsellors are the great motivated persons who can inspire the younger generation to play crucial role in expediting the Youth Red Cross activities in the state and to disseminate the principles of Red Cross. He further emphasized on Blood Donation, preservation and utilisation. He congratulated the Youth Red Cross Counsellors for their interest to work as a social worker.

Dr. Chakradhar Panda, Honorary Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch (IRCS-OSB) extended a warm welcome to the Guests & participants. He said that the counsellors are the conscience keepers for the younger generation and also highlighted the activities of Youth Red Cross from its inception and focused on the role of Youth Red Cross Counsellor for establishing humanitarian values for the betterment of the society.

Dr. Debadatta Satpathy, Youth Red Cross Officer, IRCS-OSB coordinated the entire programme & offered the formal vote of thanks.
