Industry Minister Highlights Odisha as a Global Investment Destination during UAE visit

Debi Prasad Mishra-UAEThe visit of Shri Debi Prasad Mishra, Minister for Industries, School and Mass Education, to the UAE proved to be a bonus to Odisha’s investment outlook. Shri Debi Prasad Mishra took the opportunity to promote Odisha as a fruitful investment destination for the global investors. He held a series of bilateral dialogues and meetings with eminent personalities and business forums of UAE.

One of the important angles of his tour was a luncheon meeting on 8th April hosted by His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development, Govt. of UAE, at Abu Dhabi. Shri Mishra conveyed the greetings of the CM of Odisha, Shri Naveen Patnaik and invited His Excellency to visit Odisha in order to strengthen ties between the two states.

Shri Mishra appraised him on the recent industrial policy and the various reforms and policy initiatives taken up by the state government, ease of doing business and to promote setting up new industries in the state. The potential areas of strategic partnership were discussed with focus on petrochemical and chemical, education, food processing and infrastructure development etc.

Shri Mishra addressed at The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Dubai Chapter, on another day where over 400 professionals comprising of CEOs and CFOs attended the colloquium. There he spoke out on the reforms and policy initiatives taken up by the Govt. of Odisha, including the investment opportunities on the state. The meeting was held at Hotel Crown Plaza Auditorium, Dubai.

A meeting of eminent entrepreneurs, business leaders and investors was also organized at India Club, Dubai, wherein the Minister addressed the gathering highlighting the opportunities in Odisha. He also spelt out that in view of the strategic location of the state as a gateway to Asian countries, Odisha is favorably positioned to cater to the hinterland and has several competitive advantages such as long coastline, stable political environment and availability of abundant skilled workforce.

Sri Sanjay Pattnaik, Chairman CII Odisha Chapter and Executive Director, Tata Sponge, made a presentation highlighting the fiscal and non fiscal incentives as well as the ease of doing business in the state consequent to the industrial policy 2015.

Sri Arun Mishra, MD Tata Steel Gopalpur SEZ spoke about the salient features of Goplapur SEZ and urged the benefits of investing to the investors.

The meeting was also addressed by Shri Priyadarshi Mishra, MLA; Debasish Patnaik, Chairman, Invest Bhubaneswar who highlighted Bhubaneswar being ranked no.1 in the identified list of smart cities of India and the opportunities to invest in businesses in the areas of water and sanitation, green energy and solid waste management etc. Noted Odia personalities based out of Dubai like Akshaya Kumar Parija, Capt. Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Amiya Mishra and Kishore Das were also present at the event.
