Interceptor Missile Test-Fired from Odisha Coast

Interceptor missileIndia on Wednesday successfully test fired its Interceptor Missile from the Abdul Kalam Island (Wheeler Island) off Odisha coast at 10.15 am.

Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the 7.5 metre tall interceptor weapon system can effectively destroy incoming enemy missiles at low altitude.

A part of the country’s credible ballistic missile defence (BMD) programme, the interceptor is one of the best missiles in its class.

Reportedly, India also test-fired its indigenously developed Prithvi missile by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from the launch pad-3 of Interim Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Balasore at 10.10 am today.
