ISI Agent Ishwar Behera arrested in Balasore

imageJust a day after the Intelligence Bureau (IB) issued terror alerts for Odisha and three other states – Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, an ISI agent has been arrested by Balasore police today. He was identified as Ishwar Chandra Behera.

Ishwar Chandra Behera, who hails from Kantipur village of Baisinga in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, was working as a Contractual cameraman at the Interim Test Range (ITR), Chandipur. He had been spying for the last 8-10 months and visited Kolkata several times.

He reportedly passed on sensitive information and pictures about the DRDO to Pakistan’s ISI. The cops revealed that he has received Rs 50,000 in six instalments from various terror outfits. The money was received via Internet banking from Abu Dhabi, Mumbai, Meerut, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar.

A case of treason has been registered against Ishwar Chandra Behera. He was reportedly detained yesterday and formally arrested following intense interrogation.
