Jagannath Temple Reforms: SC-appointed amicus curiae reaches Puri today

ONI Bureau:  Supreme Court-appointed amicus curiae Gopal Subramanium reached Puri today to hold discussion with various stakeholders over reform measures in Jagannath Temple.

The amicus curiae will hold meetings with Gajapati Maharaj, members of Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Shankaracharya and Chhatisa Nijog. Based on their suggestions, amicus curiae will submit the final report to the apex court.

Issues relating to abolition of hereditary appointment of servitors, end to collection of ‘dakshina’ by servitors are likely to figure during the talks as per direction of Supreme Court.
