Jagmohan repair: ASI core committee chairman GC Mitra resigns

jagannathTempleTechnical Core Committee of Archeological Survey of India (ASI) chief G. C. Mitra resigns from his post who was looking after the supervision and conservation work of Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri.

Talking to the newsperson, Mitra said, the condition of the temple is really serious and action should be taken as soon as possible.

Few days ago, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had drawn the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the worst condition of “Sri Jagannath Temple” in Puri which needs emergency structural intervention.

Bijay Mohapatra, Senior BJP leader condemned the delay of the temple work. He said, Archeological Survey of India (ASI) has never given importance to the work despite the Prime Minister’s intervention. Following the same lines, Senior Opposition Leader, Narasingh Mishra said, the ASI should cooperate to complete the work as soon as possible as only two months left for the Car Festival.
