Japanese Encephalitis claims 100 lives in Malkangiri

Japanese Encephalitis-MalkangiriDeath toll due to the outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in Malkangiri district reached to 100 in 64 days after two more kids died on Friday morning.

Earlier, on Thursday an eight-member expert team from AYUSH department visited the area and enquired about the spread of deadly virus.

The State government has decided to vaccinate 26 lakh children across Malkangiri, Jajpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts in December this year.

Meantime, the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) Authority has given immunization training to Nodal officers from four districts including, Malkangiri, Koraput, Jajpur and Keonjhar to provide vaccination in order to tackle Japanese Encephalitis (JE).
